Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1080797/C2/1> wherein Ar1 is Ph or naphthyl, optionally substituted by at least one (a) C1- 4 alkyl, C1- 4 alkoxy, halogen or CF3 group or (b) Ph which may be substituted by any group listed under (a); R1 and R2 are each C1- 4 alkyl; R DEG 3 and R DEG 4 are each H, C1- 4 alkyl, halogen or R DEG ; and R DEG is Y-C(= O)S-, Y-C(= S)O- or Y-C(= S)S-, where Y is halogen, NH2 or etherified HO or HS. These compounds are made by methods known per se. using corresponding starting materials where R DEG is OH or SH. In examples, the compounds in which Ar1 is Ph, 4-tolyl or 4-chlorophenyl, R1 = R2 = Me, R DEG 3 = R DEG 4 = H and R DEG is p- -O-C(= S)Cl, are prepared by reacting the corresponding phenates (R DEG = ONa) with CSCl2.
