Abstract

Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1080274/C2/1> (wherein the R1R2N-A- group is in the m-or p-position relative to the -CR3 = CR4R5 group; R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, stand for C1- 6 alkyl radicals, or the -NR1R2 group stands for a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic radical; A stands for an alkylene radical; R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, stand for aryl radicals, optionally bearing one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms and alkyl and alkoxy radicals; and R5 stands for an alkyl or aralkyl radical) and their acid addition salts are prepared by dehydrating a compound of the general formula <FORM:1080274/C2/2> (wherein the R1R2N-A- group is in the m-or p-position relative to the -CR3(OH).CHR4R5 group) or an acid addition salt thereof, optionally followed by salt formation and/or separation of the cis- and trans-isomers. The preparation of starting materials of the above general formula and of N,N-dimethyl-2-(p-bromophenyl), ethylamine, N-(p-bromophenyl-acetyl) piperidine, N-2- (p - bromophenyl) - ethyl-piperidine, 41 - chloro - a - ethyldesoxybenzoin, 4,41 - dichloro - a - ethyldesoxybenzoin, 41-chloro - a - ethyl - 4 - methyldesoxybenzoin, a -ethyl - 4,41 - dimethyldesoxybenzoin, 41 - chloro-4 - methyldesoxybenzoin, b - dimethylamino - 3 - bromopropiophenone hydrochloride, N,N - dimethyl - 3 - (m - bromophenyl) propylamine and its picrate, and N,N-dimethyl-3-(p-bromophenyl)-propylamine is described. The compounds of the invention are useful for the modification of the reproductive endocrine status in man and animals, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical and veterinary preparations containing them together with a diluent or carrier.
