Abstract

1,079,862. Cleaning ballast KERSHAW MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. March 23, 1966 [Oct. 15, 1965], No. 12836/66. Heading E1G. A shaking screen ballast cleaning apparatus is mounted on a support frame pivotable about a longitudinal axis relative to the vehicle chassis to allow for superelevation on curves The support frame is carried on longitudinal central pivots and is adjusted by hydraulic jacks having a common control valve responsive to the attitude of a pendulum supported from the frame. The cleaning apparatus comprises pairs of coarse and fine shaking screens fed at the top through an opposite handed auger conveyor and having means at the bottom to discharge the ballast to the sides of the rails or to a rearward truck. Fines and dirt are discharged to the side of the track or to a truck.
