Abstract

Three-dimensional polymers of isocyanuric acid are prepared by reacting isocyanuric acid with a diisocyanate of formula R1(NCO)2 where R1 is a divalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic radical having its free valencies on different carbon atoms which may bear one or more halogeno, nitro or sulphur containing substituents, or with a diisocyanate of formula RX(NCO)2 where R is a monovalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic radical and X is a compatible trivalent radical or element, at an elevated temperature. The products may have the formula <FORM:1079675/C3/1> where Y is R1 or R-X.
