Abstract

1,079,672. Sponges. L. HENDERSON. Jan. 28, 1966 [May 11, 1965], No. 19921/65. Heading A4V. An aid to the washing of one's own back comprises a strip of water-absorbent foam or sponge covered completely with a water-absorbent fabric, and having a handhold at each end, the article being of such length that when located across the back the handholds may be grasped by the two hands of the user. Preferably the handles 5, e.g. of flexible plastics tubing, are attached by folding each end of the strip 2 back on itself at 3 and stitching as shown at 4 to enclose a part of the handle. Handles may also be formed by stitching tapes or loops to the fabric material. The strip is preferably rectangular, the sponge suitably being synthetic plastics foam and the fabric suitably being terry-towelling.
