Abstract
1,078,717. Vehicle tracks. METZELER A.G. Sept. 9, 1964 [Oct. 3. 1963], No. 36867/64. Heading B7H. An endless track for a vehicle has rubber ground engaging portions 1 in which are provided metallic or plastic sockets 4 for the reception of hard metal pins 3 which prevent slipping of the tracks when the vehicle is travelling over ice. The pins may be secured in the sockets by adhesive and the sockets may be included in the rubber during vulcanization. The sockets may originally be longer than required, the excess 2a being cut off later. Alternatively, the sockets may have serrations, 10, preventing them from working loose in the tread, or may be held in place by wedge members 17 of double cone formation, Fig. 5, driven into the rubber about the socket, Fig. 4. In a further construction, Fig. 7, the sockets 21 may be held in position by pins 25.
