1,077,987. Frequency changing; control of A.C. motors. MULLARD Ltd. June 30, 1966 [Aug. 27, 1965], No. 36900/65. Headings H2F and H2J. A frequency changer supplying a centretapped load winding 5 which may be an induction motor from an A.C. source 7 comprises a capacitor 8 and two pairs of controlled rectifiers 1, 3 and 2, 4 arranged as shown. The controlled rectifiers may be thyristors or gasfilled valves or each pair may be replaced by a single solid state five-layer four-terminal device. The rectifiers are triggered from an oscillator and may conduct either for all or only a part of each half-cycle of the source.
