1,077,483. Control of A.C. motors; cooling- electrical machines. GEORGII-KOBOLD ELEKTRO -MOTOREN-APPARATEBAU G.m.b.H. April 21, 1965 [April 25, 1964], No. 16752/65. Headings H2A and H2J. [Also in Division F2] To facilitate accurate stopping of a polyphase induction motor, it is first braked regeneratively by, switching to an auxiliary winding having a greater number of poles. than the running winding, and then a creep speed is obtained by applying an adjustable D.C. from a rectifier to one phase of the main winding and/or partially applying an electro-mechanicalfriction brake. The braking force is obtained from a. permanent magnet which is opposed to an. adjustable extent by an electromagnet. The motor is finally stopped by full application of the friction brake and disconnection of both the A.C. and the D.C. supplies. The apparatus is cooled by a separate motor driven fan mounted coaxially with the main motor and enclosed within a hood which forms an extension of the motor casing. Switching, is effected by relays mounted on the top of the casing.
