Abstract

1,077,232. Data transmission; transistor switching circuits. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH Ltd. April 8, 1965 [April 14, 1964], No. 15397/64. Headings H3T and H4P. To permit the use of a receiver with any one of various forms of line telegraph signals, a conversion circuit precedes the receiver and comprises two multivibrators connected across the line. The multivibrators are connected so that one operates in response to positive signals and the other to negative, and feed a toggle which is slow acting, whereby, when the toggle is switched from one state to the other, it remains in that state until the multivibrator which caused the switching ceases to operate. The circuitry preceding the multivibrators comprises resistor networks which are selected by switches so that the correct voltage is supplied to the multivibrators; the input may, for example, be single or double current and at 6v or 60v. In the case of single current, only one of the multivibrators is operative. The output toggle is fed via D.C. blocking capacitors and a switch which, for single current operation, selects the output of the operative multivibrator.
