Abstract

1,076,573. Golf practising apparatus. A. CAMERON. Feb. 26, 1964 [Feb. 26, 1963], No. 7564/63. Heading A6D. A golf practising apparatus comprises dummy golf balls 3 mounted for rotation about a horizontal axle 5, and supported by a U-shaped member (6) (Fig. 3, not shown), mounted for rotation about a vertical pin 10. The horizontal rotation of the golf balls is transmitted via reduction gearing and a flexible drive 16 to driving wheels 21, 22 of a film projector. The projector, itself is mounted at one end of and is movable with a swivel arm 17 and the U support to which the arm is attached. A servo lever 29 keeps the projector normal relative to a screen 30. In operation a film of each hole is placed in the projector and the image of a green and fairway is projected onto the screen, when one'of the balls 3 is struck rotation about the horizontal axle 5 will actuate, via the flexible drive cable 16, the driving wheels 21, 22 and cause the film to pass through the projector and thus bring the projected image of a flag pin closer to an aiming point marked on the angled portion of the screen 30, and any slice or pull will cause the U-support to rotate about its vertical pin 10 and will cause the projector and the flag pin image to move laterally of the screen.
