Abstract

1,076,351. Combination furniture; drawers. ART METAL Inc. Jan. 19, 1965 [Aug. 26, 1964], No. 2268/65. Headings A4B and A4H. A combination drawing-board and filing cabinet comprises a cabinet 10 in which drawings are housed in pockets 12 suspended from rods 14 and a drawing board 18 forming a cover for the cabinet is hinged at 19 and is counterbalanced by a spiral spring (20) connected to a strut 24 by a strap (22) the strut being lockable in any desired position of inclination by means of a brake strap (27) controlled by a screw knob (26). A drawer 34 is prevented from complete withdrawal by a spring metal strap 38 with downturned legs 42, 44 of which the leg 44 extends into the interior of the drawer at all times to engage the rear wall 46 when the drawer is pulled out. When cover 18 is lowered the strap 38 is depressed and leg 42 engages the rear wall 46 to lock the drawer.
