Abstract
107,587. Hubert, W., and Bosch, H. June 23, 1916, [Convention date]. Siphon discharge water-waste preventers; water-waste preventers discharged by displacers.-In a siphon flushing-apparatus for water closets &c., comprising a bell acting as a displacer and separate pulling devices for large and small flushes, the said pulling devices f, v extend through the flushing cistern a and through the middle of the bell d, act without lever mechanism, and are arranged coaxially. When the device f is pulled, the whole bell displaces water, which rises in the inner chamber, compressing the air therein, and flows down the flush pipe b siphonically. If, instead, the device v be pulled, the bell d is drawn down and an air valve i is opened, thus breaking the air-lock and allowing to flow down the pipe b only the water raised above its level by the displacement of the annular part of the bell d. A guide tube e is divided so that its two parts can be moved relatively to one another, whereby the amount of the flush can be varied. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the air valve is dispensed with and the lesser flush obtained on pulling the device v by imiting the amount that the bell d can be pulled down, so limiting the extent to which the water will flow down the pipe b siphonically. A system of levers effecting this limitation of movement is described as an example.
