Abstract

1,075,736. Filter presses. POLYSIUS S.A.R.L. March 23, 1966 [March 26, 1965], No. 12769/66. Heading B1D. [Also in Division E2] The edge portion 8 of a section of filter cloth is retained in a peripheral slot 1 in the face of a filter-press plate by a fillet 2, of frame-like shape and deformable material. Fillet 2 may be rubber or rigid material with a rubber coating and projects from slot 1 so that, with the filter-press closed and peripheral parts 7 of the plates abutting, faces 6 of adjacent fillets are compressed together and seal spaces 10 between plates. Slots I and fillets 2 may have semi-cylindrical recesses 3, 4 which, during assembly, receive pins 5, inserted into the cylindrical enclosures formed by the recesses from the four comers of the plate (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). The inner ends of pins 5 are chamfered (18), and the outer ends have a knurled head (15) and a short threaded portion (14) whereby they are retained in the plate. The cloth may be retained between pin 5 and fillet 2, as shown, or may have a beaded edge retained in the base of slot 1 (Fig. 4, not shown).
