Abstract

An electrophoretic coating apparatus.comprises a conveyer arranged to convey articles through the coating tank and a position sensing device disposed so that the article passes it before entering the tank, the sensing device being adapted to detect whether the article extends in a plane transverse to the conveyer outside an area of the tank into which the article is to be introduced and to produce an output signal to stop the conveyer if the article extends outside said area. As described, switch trips are disposed so as to stop the conveyer and energize warning devices if the articles are incorrectly aligned for entry to the coating tank. Power failure in the sensing device system is also arranged to stop the conveyer.
