Abstract

107,499. Hunter, A. Oct. 10, 1916. Sticks; handles; tips.-Relates to walking- sticks &c. suitable for use bv invalids. In order that the main pressure of the hand may be substantially in line with the axis of the stick, the cross-grip is mounted with its middle part directly over the stick. The grip A. Fig. 1, may be supported firmly at each end by a U-shaped holder B fixed to the top of the stick by a socket-piece D; or the grip G, Fig. 3, may be supported at one end only by a cranked portion H of the top of the stick, the bend between the parts G and H being strengthened by a shaped plate J riveted within a slot cut into the bend. To provide for a rolling action of the foot of the stick a forked part E, Fig. 1, carrying suitable pads F constitutes the end of the stick. Or a cross-piece K, Fig. 4, with a rubber strip 'iet into it and suitably curved may form the end of the stick. It is stated that the principles of the invention can be applied to crutches and umbrellas.
