Abstract

1,073,546. Stabilizers for silver halide emulsions. AGFA A.G. March 4, 1965 [March 5, 1964], No. 9248/65. Heading G2C. A silver halide emulsion having silver halide grains which are essentially surface-sensitive contains as a stabilizer for latent images a #- monophenyl-hydrazide of an aliphatic carboxylic acid wherein the phenyl group is optionally substituted (e.g. by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, and carboxy groups). Various mono- and polybasic acids are specified. The emulsion may also comprise conventional sensitizers, dyes, other stabilizers, hardeners and colour couplers. Other mono- and di-acyl hydrazides and mono- and di-hydrazinium salts are used in comparative examples.
