The screw 4 and driving means 6, 9, 10 of a screw press are mounted below a press table 7. As shown, the screw 4 operates an intermediate slide 5 connected to a tool slide 8 by tiemembers 8a, 8b. The drive means comprises hydraulic motors 6, pinions 10, and a driving gear 9 secured to the screw 4.
