Abstract

<PICT:1070968/C6-C7/1> In a method of electroplating electrotype moulds or shells, the workpiece to be plated is immersed in an electrolyte solution and, during electrodeposition, jets of electrolyte are impinged over substantially the whole area of the workpiece surface to be plated, at least some of the jets striking said surface normally. The jets may be impinged in a regular pattern, and may be formed by forcing part of the electrolyte through holes formed in pipes dispose in front of the workpiece. The workpiece may be supported within a box-like support (Fig.3), the edges of the workpiece fitting into, and being shielded by, grooves in the walls 31 and 32, and the back of the workpiece being shielded by the wall 30 of the support.
