A structure subject to vibration has bonded thereto a first layer of damping material overlying and bonded directly to the structure, a second layer of damping material overlying and bonded directly to the first layer, both layers of damping material having relatively high internal friction and being soft or having relatively low modulus of elasticity compared to the structure, and one of the layers of damping material being several times as stiff as the outer layer of damping material.
