A damped structure, Fig. 3, comprises a layer of visco-elastic damping material of high internal hysteresis losses andlow modulus of elasticity which is bonded to two rigid structural members 9, 10, a number of random, or uniformly, arranged small plates 13 being dispersed within the visco-elastic layer to increase the loadbearing and damping effects of the structure.
