Discharging and feeding devices for endless chain and rope conveyers; driving-gear; screw and worm conveyers.-In a conveyer system, the speed and distance apart of the articles carried are varied without shook at certain points of the system by dividing the system into several sections so arranged that before any article is disengaged from any section, it will be engaged by the next section, and connecting the driving-gear of adjacent sections by non-circular wheels so arranged that when an article is passing from one section to another, the speed of the latter section will be the the same as that of the former. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the articles P<1>, P<2> are connected by teeth to screw conveyers B<3>, B<4> which are connected by a worm wheel F, non- circular wheels C, C', bevel-gearings D, D<1>, and gears D<2>, D<3>. The screw B<4> is rotated at a periodically changing speed, but is moving at the same speed as the screw B<3> when an article is being transferred to it. Instead of two screw conveyers, two endless rope or chain conveyers may be connected by similar mechanism, or a screw conveyer may deliver to an endless-chain conveyer. The non-circular wheels may be of spiral form instead of the shape shown, and more than two such wheels may be employed.
