An air cushion vehicle is provided with a power driven or auto-rotating rotor, or a rotating cylinder operating under Magnus effect, to provide support for the vehicle when it operates over depressions in the ground surface of depths exceeding the normal cushion height. The rotors may be retracted when inoperative.
