Abstract
1,068,704. Discharge apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 19, 1965 [July 22, 1964], No. 30560/65. Heading H1D. Sodium is introduced into a discharge vessel by placing it, held in a glass or metal holder having at least one exit aperture, in the exhaust tube of the vessel before it is connected with a pump, with a filter for arresting solid particles of sodium compounds positioned in the tube between the sodium and the vessel, and heating the sodium to cause it to pass into the vessel. Sodium held in an open-ended glass tube (4, Fig. 1, not shown) is introduced into the exhaust tube (3), the filter (5) being in the form of a nickel/chromium cylinder, of approximately the same diameter as the exhaust tube, and having one end closed by an apertured transverse wall (7, Figs. 2 and 3, not shown).
