Abstract

1,068,329. Electric selective signalling. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Nov. 4, 1965 [Nov. 18, 1964], No. 46920/64. Heading G4H. A servo-mechanism comprises a motor (1, Fig. 1, not shown), potentiometers (7) producing ramp signals (Fig. 2 not shown) varying from a positive to a negative value one of the signals being selected by a counter (10) opening a corresponding gate (9) to obtain a driving signal for the motor which moves until the driving signal is zero. The counter (10) is a ring counter which counts in either direction according as to the input line (11 or 12) used. The motor is a shunt motor and is energized by the potentiometer signal through an amplifier (4). Continuous rotation may be obtained by entering a succession of pulses into the counter. The entry of any number up to six will cause the output shaft to step to a corresponding one of six positions. Instead of using six separate potentiometers a single potentiometer with six spaced wipers may be used.
