Abstract

1,067,809. Typewriters &c. CREED & CO. Ltd. Dec. 17, 1965 [Dec. 22, 1964], No. 53623/65. Heading B6F. Typewriter or teleprinter platen 1 is mounted on stub shafts 1a each provided with a pin wheel 3 having a number of radial slots 9 each accommodating a feeding pin 7 mounted on a transverse pin 8, one end of which passes through a slot 6a, Fig. 2b (not shown), of a plate 6, Fig. 1, and the other end of which co-operates with the inner surfaces of an upper or lower cam surface 10b, 10a, respectively, of a plate 10 mounted by a lug 10d on a rod 12, for pivotal movement about the rod 12 on operation of a manually actuated lug 10c. By pivoting the lug 10c so as to displace the cam surface 10b radially inwardly, the cam surface engages the pins 8 to retract the feeding pins 7. Pivoting of the lug 10c in the opposite direction causes the cam surface 10a to engage the pins 8 to raise the feeding pins 7. Retraction of pins permits use of platen with paper whose margins are unperforated.
