Abstract

1,066,996. Foot arch supports. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. June 11, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 24359/64. Heading A3B. A foot arch support consists of a single piece of cast thermoplastic material which has a softening point below 212‹F., e.g: polyethylene or polypropylene, and which has an upper surface corresponding to the plantar surface of the human foot. The support may have raised region 2 to support the inner longitudinal arch, a raised region 3 to support the outer longitudinal arch, a raised region 4 to support the transverse or metatarsal arch and a cupped heel seat 5. The foot arch support may be adjusted to suit the individual wearer by immersing it in water at a temperature above the softening point of the thermoplastic material, re-shaping the support while it is soft and allowing it to cool and set to its new shape.
