1,066,526. Columns for curtain walls. R. PHILLIPPART. April 27, 1964 [April 27, 1963], No. 1499/66. Divided out of 1,066,525. Heading E1R. A column or upright for curtain walls comprises two tubular elements 1, 2 juxtaposed on opposite sides of a heat and/or sound insulating layer 3. The columns may be formed by separate sections, each having elements 1, 2, the sections being connected end-to-end by spigot-like connectors, Fig. 9 (not shown). Grooves 11, 12, 13 extending longitudinally along the sides of the column may be engaged by ribs 42 on members 41 over which the ends of cross members B of the curtain wall are engaged. In a modification the members 41 are bifurcated or comprised by two separate spaced members. Figs. 8 and 7 respectively (not shown) for use with two-part cross members.
