Abstract
1,065,412. Temperature sensitive resistors. HITACHI SEISAKUSHO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. March 25, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 12685/64. Heading H1K. A resistor consisting of a mixture of vanadium pentoxide and at least one basic or acidic oxide and having a resistance which decreases abruptly at a predetermined temperature is connected in series with a resistor across a power source. The voltage applied by the source is equal to the maximum voltage value of the currentvoltage characteristic of the resistor at an ambient temperature corresponding to said predetermined temperature so that the current increases abruptly to a new stable value when this temperature is exceeded. The change in currentoperates a relay or an alarm or indicating device. Several parallel connected resistors mounted in different locations may be connected in series with a common power source and a device indicating when the ambient temperature of any device exceeds the predetermined value, pilot lamps in series with the individual resistors indicating where the temperature is exceeded.
