Abstract

In a process for the preparation of a hydrogen electrode for a fuel cell from basic carbonate or organic salts of nickel, a mixture of basic nickel carbonate or organic salt of nickel, boric acid or oxide and ex carbonyl nickel acting as a conductive support is homogenized, compressed, heated in hydrogen at about 500 DEG C., excess boric oxide or acid is eliminated and the compressed mixture is reheated in hydrogen.
