In a cine camera or projector, the film is held flat at the film gate by three co-planar rigid lands (7), on a resiliently urged pressure plate, engaging its margins. The lands define a triangular area including the image aperture and, preferably the feed claw slot. Additional resilient pads (8), engaging the margin or margins of a single run film or the centre and margin of a double run film, may be provided within the triangular area.
