Abstract
1,064,590. Moulding hollow articles. AEROJET-GENERAL CORPORATION. Nov. 4, 1964, No. 44912/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F1] A method of fabricating a pressure vessel, such as a rocket motor casing, comprises making a mandrel 28 from a soluble material such as salt and covering the mandrel with sheets of uncured neoprene, which are then cured to form a gas tight liner. The mandrel is slowly rotated and resin-impregnated glass filaments wound thereon along geodesic paths. The filaments are cured and the mandrel dissolved by pouring liquid through opening 22 in the head portion of the vessel. The equation defining the curve of the head portions is described.
