Delivery of articles stored in pilcs.-Piles of newspapers, magazines, &c. are supported in an horizontal or inclined position by means of base-plates 1<a> pivoted between the side walls of the casing 1. A sliding frame 3 working in fixed guides 4a, Fig. 5, on the base-plate is disposed around each pile of papers and is connected to an external operating handle 12 by means of a wire or string 14 passing round guide-pulleys 16. The string 14 is attached at its centre to a cross-bar 15 of the frame, and at its further end to a counterweight 13 connected with a dash-pot 13'. A following bar 5 sliding in the uprights of the frame 3 carries an oscillating delivery member 6, which bears on the topmost newspaper of the pile. The member 6 is pivoted in ears 5<1> depending from the bar 5 and is provided with wire horns 9, a tongue 8 serving as a stop, and a plate 7 from which project pins 7<1>. During the return movement of the frame 3, under the action of the counterweight 13 and dash-pots 13<1>, the member 6 turns on its pivot, and the pins 7<1> enter the topmost paper of the pile and feed it forward half way, and simultaneously the tongue 8 engages the rear edge of the paper which was displaced at the last operation of the apparatus and pushes it off the pile into a delivery shoot 10. Alternatively, the pins may be arranged to feed the paper forwards through one third of its length, the tongue 8 to displace it further at the next operation, and the horns 9 to effect its delivery at the third operation. Any suitable coin mechanism is disposed at 12' between the handle 12 and cord 14.
