Abstract
1,064,006. Vehicle cleaning apparatus. R. E. COX. March 10, 1966 [March 11, 1965], No. 10326/65. Heading B7J. A vehicle to be cleaned is driven between and forces apart ground rails 18, 19 pivoted at (20) and (21) and provided with wheels (22), (23), Fig. 2 (not shown). Rotatable brushes 11 11 and spray gear mounted in suspended units 10 also connected to the rails clean the vehicle and the brushes are pressed against the vehicle by gravity or springs as the units 10 move along a track 15 which dips at its middle. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) units (24), (25) move along oblique and downwardly directed track and are arranged to wash all sides of a vehicle as its moves through the apparatus, the moving vehicle operating switches releasing the units for downward run. In another embodiment the overhead track is in the form of a closed circuit or is of channel or horseshoe shape adapted to clean three sides of a stationary vehicle. The units may, however, be manually or power-driven in one or two directions.
