Abstract

106,399. Christensen, J. A. F. Sept. 21,1916. Reinforced block-work columns and walls.- Concrete blocks superposed as in a pillar &c. are provided with pipe insertions 1 which form a through passage for clamping-bolts 4 and are stiffened laterally by short guiding couplings 3. The ends of the pipes may be inserted into or may embrace the couplings which may be secured, for example, by screw-threads, to one pipe end. The bolt lengths may be screwed into the couplings or may be connected together directly, and are protected by the pipes from lateral strains. The bolts may be solid or hollow and a tool may be inserted through the hollow bolt to turn a screw coupling for securing the bolt to the lowest block.
