Abstract

[Also in Division H2] An arrangement for attaching the two flexible leads from the moving coil of a loud-speaker to tags on a terminal board secured to the chassis of the loud-speaker comprises a bracket 5, integral with the chassis 4, which supports an insulating panel 6. Each of the two tags 7 (only one of which is shown) is secured to the panel 6 by a bush 8, provided with a bore of square (or other polygonal) section, inserted from the loudspeaker side of the panel. Each lead 10 is threaded through a bush 8, and a sleeve 11 (e.g. eyelet or rivet) is inserted into the bush from the tag-carrying side of the panel 6 so that the lead 10 is accommodated in a corner of the opening in the bush 8 between the bush 8 and sleeve 11, and the end of the lead is held against the tag 7 by the enlarged end 12 of the sleeve 11. A portion 14 of the leading end 13 of the sleeve 11 is left underformed (or part of the end 13 is removed) to avoid severing the lead 10. Each lead 10 may comprise twelve pairs of wires braided around a core of flexible non-metallic material (e.g. cotton), each pair consisting of one pure copper wire and one wire of a resilient alloy (e.g. beryllium copper).
