106,349. Park, J. R. June 8, 1916. Cranks, variable-throw.-A pedalcrank for bicycles &c. comprises a driving-arm B fixed on the axle A, a shorter arm C loose on the axle and carrying a pedal D<1>, and means whereby the pedal automatically engages the driving-arm at an extended radius. A roller E<2> carried by an extension E of the pedal bears in a suitable curved recess B<2> in the driving-arm B during the down-stroke. The arm B is confined within a cage C<1> attached to the arm C, and carries a cam-plate B<3> which raises the loose arm C during the upstroke. The pedal is provided with a toe-plate D<2> having a toe-clip D<4> and hinged at D<3>, to cause the line of foot pressure to be applied over the hinge instead of over the pedal pin D when the plate is tilted.
