Abstract

1,062,532. Collars for personal wear. G. WEISS. Jan. 19, 1965 [July 23, 1964], No. 2250/65. Heading A3V. An otherwise extensible shirt collar 20 is rendered inextensible in the end zones adjacent the neck fastening by securing inextensible plies 46, 48 to extensible plies 40a-c only in those zones. The plies 40a-c may include longitudinal elastomeric or crimped threads or be merely bias cut. Stiffeners 50 are first stitched to plies 46, 48 and 40a and then all the plies are stitched together at 54, turned to bring plies 40b and 40c to the outside and top stitched at 56. Extensible thread may be used for all stitching. In an embodiment (not shown) in which the neckband and cape portions are separate members inextensible plies 46, 48 are secured only to the cape portion.
