Abstract

106,245. Jensen, C. A., (Diaphone Signal Co.). Jan. 8, 1917. Bolts.-In bolts for fastening rail joints, wherein a key 7 passes through a slot 6 in the bolt 2 as described in Specification 16519/11, the cross-sectional area of the metal in the slotted portion 5 of the stem is substantially equal to that in the other portion of the stem. In one construction, Fig. 7, the end of the stem is ellipsoidal in cross-section and engages a corresponding hole in the splice bar. In another construction, the stem around the slot is lozenge shaped with rounded corners in crosssection. The bolt is made by rolling, stamping, or forging a metal bar 1 with a flat face having the middle portion of its flat face offset, Figs. 1 and 2. The halves may be welded together.
