Bed-pans for the use of male invalids comprise a body a of regular elongated formation and of substantially circular or angular cross-section, the opening d in which is located at one end in an upwardly curved portion c. The side edges of this portion are turned over to form grooves in which slides a lid e, the front edge being higher to be level with the top of the lid. A stop g prevents the lid from being completely withdrawn. Alternatively, a pivoted lid may be employed. The opening d is of approximately the same area as the cross-sectional area of the body a.
