1,061,584. Making bearing cages. TORRINGTON CO. Aug. 24, 1963, No. 33632/63. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A one-piece cage for a roller thrust bearing is made from a flat annular element (29), Fig. 7 (not shown), and elongated openings (32) are formed therein. The element (29) is then shaped by raising the central portions of the bars (18), Fig. 10 (not shown), and forming annular raised lips (14, 15). The operations may be performed individually or may be combined into progressive operations in a single tool set. After forming, the cage may be heat treated, such as by carbo-nitriding.
