Abstract
1,061,415. Change-speed control. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. June 22, 1964 [June 26. 1963], No. 25706/64. Heading F2D. In a motor-vehicle change-speed gear control in which the shift rods are operated by a remoteball-lever 2 through a turn-and-slide selector shift bar 3 housed in a casing 1 arranged separately from the gear-box, the hand lever 2 is formed with two equal diameter axially spaced spherical bearings 2a, 2b one of which mounts the gear lever 2 in a bearing support 8, 9, attached to the casing, while the other engages an eccentric head 4 of the shift bar 3 which is is formed intermediate its length with a partspherical guide flange 5, the arrangement being such that for any given movement of the gear lever 2 different combinations of both the axial and rotary movements of the shift bar 3 can be achieved by securing the bearing support 9. to the top or bottom face of the casing 1 with the bearing 8 inverted inside or outside the casing, with the gear lever bearings 2a. 2b mounted in the bearing 8 and shift bar head 4 in either order as illustrated in Fig. 1 and Figs. 2 to 4 (not shown). The offset Y of the bearing 8 to the respective top or bottom casing surface is equal to the eccentricity X of the shift bar head 4. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) illustrate the eccentric shift bar head 4 and bearing 7 offset, in plan view, to the centre axis of the casing, equally to one side, or offset equal amounts each side to incline the shift bar for forward control applications using short shift rods.
