The electrode of a, fuel cell has a thickness of less than 2 mm. thick and consists of (a) a bundle of capillary tubes all of the same internal diameter in the range of from 0.01-1 mm. or (b) a bundle of wires so packed as to from capillaries as in (a), or (c) a fine screen having perforations having a cross-section between 10<SP>-6</SP> and 10<SP>-12</SP> sq. mm. each.
