Abstract
1,061,106. Brush rockers for electric motors. ARENCO A.B. May 10, 1965 [May 15, 1964], No. 19576/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Divisions F2 and G3] Mechanism for controlling the speed of a motor-driven shaft comprises meshing toothed sectors 5, 6, the sector 5 being secured to a shaft 7, to which a bush-rocker 2 of the motor 1 is attached, and the sector 6 being rotatably mounted by means of a shaft 9, on a lever 11 which is pivotally mounted on shaft 7 and is attached to an hydraulic damping member 10. The sector 6 is biased to a neutral position by a leaf spring 12 and is coupled by a link 15 to a knee lever 14 carrying a roller 4 around which passes a web 3 of paper, the tension of which it is desired to maintain constant. If the tension of the web 3 increases slowly, sectors 5, 6 and lever 11 rotate in unison anticlockwise thereby effecting rotation of shaft 7 and gradual regulation of the motor speed. If, however, the displacement of link 15 occurs rapidly, there is relative rotation between the gear sectors 5, 6 causing a rapid acceleration of the motor and flexing of the spring 12 which then causes anticlockwise rotation of lever arm 11 and restoration of the gear sectors 5, 6 to their original relative positions, Fig. 4 (not shown) with consequent adjustment of the motor speed. In a modification, the gear sectors 5, 6 are replaced by a pin 16 on a link 18 secured to shaft 7 engages a radial slot 18 in a link 19 secured to shaft 9, Fig. 5 (not shown).
