Abstract
1,061,099. Valves. G. A. BLACK. Aug. 29, 1963, No. 34244/63. Heading F2V. A fluid control valve, Fig. 1 (not shown), for a brake mechanism in winding equipment, comprises an operating spindle (3) secured in a resilient bush (11) of bonded rubber by a seal (10) which is capable of being deformed in response to longitudinal movement of the spindle. The spindle (3) is mounted in the bush (11), and the bush (11) in the valve casing (2) by a further seal (9). In Fig. 1 the spindle (3) moves a valve member which is associated with the seat (5) to control fluid passing through the inlet (6) and outlet (7). In Fig. 2, (not shown,) the spindle (19) is operatively connected to a load-cell (12) having a pressure chamber (17) and low-pressure inlet (18) for a control fluid, preferably controlled by a valve similar to Fig. 1, to move the spindle against the action of a pre-set spring (22). The load-cell is mounted in a resilient bush (15) which can be pre-stressed to remove the need for a spring (22). A further embodiment describes a plurality of springs disposed on a pitch circle diameter around the spindle (19). Further embodiments describe a system of levers for actuating the valve of Fig. 1, comprising a hand or foot lever having a resiliently mounted cam to move a further lever operatively associated with the spindle (3).
