Abstract

Polypropylene is electronically bombarded so that its water contact angle (as defined in the Specification) is reduced from 90 degrees to between 54 and 40 degrees.ALSO:A paper support, which may be electrically bombarded to improve adhesive is coated on one or both sides with a polyproylene layer. One polypropylene layer, which may contain pigment such as titanium dioxide, is electronically bombarded so that its water contact angle is reduced from 90 degrees to between 54 and 40 degrees and hydrophilic layers adhere more readily to the treated layer. A hydrophilic layer of gelatin, albumin, a polyvinyl compound or a cellulose derivative may be coated on the treated polypropylene layer.
