Abstract

1,060,098. Electrostatic copier. NUCLEAR CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Oct. 27, 1964 [Oct. 30, 1963], No. 43836/64. Heading G2H. An electrostatic copier comprises a tray for copy sheets 44 which are coated with a photoconductive material and which are removed by a conveyer 54 to pass between two rollers 46, 48 and between spaced wires 68 and 70 to which a potential is applied. The copy sheets then passes over an open window 84, where it receives the projected image of the original, and is carried between two contiguous belt conveyers 104, 72 to a developer system 106 comprising a tank containing liquid carrying particles to be picked up by the charged portions of the copy sheet. The open window 84 is bridged by strands of a filament divergent in the direction of movement of the sheet. From the developer system the sheet passes through a fixing system, in which heated air is blown on to the paper, and then on to the delivery tray 28. An original is fed into the machine through slot 142 between rollers 146 and 148 and operates a microswitch 156 to initiate movement of the copy sheet. The original passes a window 170 whereby an image of the original is projected on to a copy sheet through window 84 by means of a lamp 236, a lens 246, and reflectors. The original is guided to a gating device 180 which can be set to recirculate the original if more than one copy is required or else to return the original to a delivery tray 20.
