Abstract
In a mounting for an agitator operating spindle (2), Fig. 1A (not shown), passing through a wall (1) of a tank, the spindle (2) is supported by a sealing-means (3) carried by an annular-shaped elastic diaphragm (10), having one periphery connected to the sealing-means (3) and the other periphery connected to the tank wall (1). In modifications, a diaphragm (16), Fig. 1B (not shown) is substantially "L"-shaped so as to allow the formation of a smaller hole in the tank-wall (1); a diaphragm (20), Fig. 2A (not shown) has a "U"-shaped cross-section which allows an even smaller hole to be formed in the tank wall (1); limited radial and axial clearances are provided so as to restrict the movement of the sealing-means and thus protect the diaphragm from damage; and a self-lubricating bearing is mounted in the sealing-means (3).
