Abstract
1,059,413. Mould venting. WEYERHAEUSER CO. March 16, 1964 [May 27, 1963], No. 44521/66. Divided out of 1.059,412. Heading B5A. Apertured articles are formed by compression moulding a resin impregnated fibrous mat between heated male and female dies 25, 26 the male die carrying a punch 38 which co-operates with an aperture 40 with female die to remove the required portion of the mat. Die 25 is carried by a member 21 which is slidable in a member 22, which member carries die 26, peripheral walls 28, and 32, of members 21 and 22 respectively co-operating to sever the pressed article from the rest of the mat. Upon release of the pressure on the dies after the moulding operation the vapours released from the mat during the moulding operation force them apart. The relative lengths of walls 28 and 32 are designed so that upon movement of the dies apart the punch 38 is withdrawn from aperture 40, to allow venting of the vapour therethrough, whilst said walls 28 and 32 remain in registry thus preventing the vapour from escaping from the periphery of the dies.
