Abstract

New compounds of Formula (I) <FORM:1059271/C2/1> where the benzene ring X is substituted by at least one atom or radical selected from halogen, nitro and trifluoromethyl and is optionally further substituted by an alkyl radical (but excluding the 31-Br,.31-Cl, and 41-Br compounds) are prepared by heating carbanilides II, wherein R is hydrogen or C1- 4 alkyl, in presence of an acidic catalyst (said carbanilides being preparable from o-(COOR)-anilines and phenyl-isocyanates).ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise, with diluents or carriers, quinazolines of formula <FORM:1059271/A5-A6/1> where the benzene ring X is substituted by at least one radical selected from halogen, nitro and trifluoromethyl and is optionally further substituted by an alkyl radical (but excluding simple nonsterile solutions or suspension in water or common organic solvents). Conventional oral and parenteral preparations useful in allergic and inflammatory conditions are described. Additional active ingredients specified are acetylsalicylic acid, phenylbutasone, cortisone and hydrocortisone.
