Abstract

<PICT:1058687/C1/1> <PICT:1058687/C1/2> A glass cutting machine comprises a template 1, a cutting tool 12 on a carrier 10 having driving and guiding rollers 6, 7 engaging the template 1 and driven by an electric motor 11 mounted on the carrier, a pick-up shoe 4 on the carrier 10 adapted to make rubbing contact with one or more contact plates 2 on the template 1 during the travel of the carrier 10 along the template 1, the contact plates 2 being electrically insulated as by a layer of plastics material from the template and flush with its surface and motor speed control means operative when the carrier shoe 4 touches a contact 2 to alter the motor speed, particularly to brake the carrier at the approach to each of the sharp bends in the template 1 and before the final stop at the starting position O. The carrier 10 is mounted on a slide 14 so that the cutting tool 12 bears on a sheet of glass 13. A suitable circuit for controlling the motor 11 is disclosed, the contacts 2 being connected thereto by tags 5 interconnected by a conductor to one pole of the source of current.
